This modern fantasy stars Anthony Hopkins as William Parrish, a wealthy New York City media mogul who suffers a heart attack on the eve of his 65th birthday; although he survives, he senses that his death is near. On the same day, Parrish's younger daughter, Susan (Claire Forlani), meets a handsome young stranger (Brad Pitt) at a neighboring coffee shop and is instantly smitten. As they part, the young stranger is killed and his body is occupied by Death, who is coming to Earth to warn Parrish that his death is, indeed, imminent. Death enters the Parrish household disguised as Joe Black, the handsome stranger, and although Parrish understands Death's intentions he lets the family believe that Joe Black is a young business associate. Susan is shocked to find the familiar young man at her family dinner that evening, and, as she begins a passionate love affair with the debonaire stranger, she has no idea that she has fallen not for the young stranger from the coffee shop but for Death himself. In an effort to prolong his life and his daughter's happiness, William agrees to take Joe on a tour of human life that includes board meetings, family parties, and, ultimately, romance. Laurence Olivier, as Zeus, is one of the many screen legends in this adventure. Burgess Meredith, Claire Bloom, Maggie Smith and Ursula Andress round out the cast as the Gods of Mount Olympus.

Dick brings an impassioned and well-reasoned eye to his material, which should have viewers on the more conservative side of the fence paying closer attention than they would have had he taken a more blustery approach. As it stands, OUTRAGE is an illuminating, stirring call to arms. Dick interviews the political community�s most prominent gay figures--including former New Jersey governor Jim McGreevey and Congressman Barney Frank--as well as many others (radio DJ Michelangelo Signorile, blogger Michael Rogers, and writer/activist Larry Kramer), who share their own thoughtful insights into just how deeply the personal and political corruption runs. In what is clearly the most controversial aspect of the film, Dick makes a case for the homosexuality of several politicians who continue to deny it (most notably, former Idaho senator Larry Craig and current Florida governor Charlie Crist). But OUTRAGE is by no means a finger-wagging witch-hunt--Dick�s intention is not to ruin the life of anyone. When Kenji visits the home of the missing family, he notices a strange piece of graffiti on the wall, and is startled when he remembers it was the symbol of a club of teenage misfits he belonged to years ago. Kenji and his friends in the club created an amateur comic book that imagined an apocalyptic future in which strange illnesses and bands of armed insurgents threatened to destroy the world.
